Unique galvanized trailerAugust 2011 – This spring saw the presentation of a unique steel lorry/trailer combination: a trailer for extra-long, very heavy goods vehicles. These trailers are unique due to the low chassis base combined with tail-lift, special retractable gooseneck bars and leading rear axles; they meet high requirements in terms of quality and were hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Kampen. During the Carrosserie Vakdagen (bodywork trade fair) in March, Trias Trailers of Apeldoorn presented a unique steel lorry/trailer combination. The first such trailers are intended to be used for transporting flowers. Once the trailers have been hot-dip galvanized by Verzinkerij Kampen, the body shop in question builds the body. The lorry/trailer combination in its entirety comprises a lorry and two trailers, 25.25 m in total, with a maximum gross laden weight of 60 tons. Both trailers have electronically-controlled air suspension and steered leading rear axles, so the combination can easily negotiate tight corners and mini-roundabouts. By using this combination, freight forwarders can carry greater loads in a single journey. This saves fuel and reduces CO2 emissions, so it is better for the environment as well. |
